Harinama Sankirtana Harinama Sankirtana Following in Lord Caitanya's footsteps, devotees chant and dance in the city streets, travelling to various suburbs of Sydney to give a chance to the conditioned souls to hear and benefit from hearing Krishna's holy names.
Due to extensive sankirtana activities in the movement's early years, the 'Hare Krishnas' have become a household word, and the vast majority of people will be familiar with the saffron robes, shaved heads, and rhythmic playing of drums and hand-cymbals travelling down the high street chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. (What is the Maha-mantra?) This timeless sound vibration, enacted from the spiritual platform, purifies the heart of anyone who hears it, gradually enabling them to understand the transcendental nature of the Supreme Lord the source of our very existence, and experience spiritual bliss by being directly in contact with the 'reservoir of pleasure', Lord Sri Krishna.
